This is quite possibly the funniest troll posts I've ever seen.

Per urban dictionary, a troll is "one who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument."

I believe this guy meets this definition to a tee. Either that or he's a raging doofus. Some of my favorite commentaries on the deficiencies of Batman Begins include

The comics were dark, but also very fun, and that fun was accurately portrayed on tv in the 1960s. Batman the tv show was a cult hit, and while the effects weren't that great, it truly showed Batman as he was originally intended - as a super detective who wasn't afraid to get into fights, but was ultimately a really nice family man with a good sense of humor.

He then decides out of the blue to become Batman, but instead of Alfred making him his costume and weapons, he hires Samuel L. Jackson to do it for him. Now, I'm not a stickler for consistancy with the comic books, but this was really out of left field...

Batman himself doesn't have the stocky, square-jawed appearance that we all recognize, but is played by the thin guy from Memento.

The villains don't have the fun zaniness of the Joker or Mr. Riddles or the Pengiun and they're even a little scary.

The rumors, sadly, appear to be false. Captain America does not have a cameo in the new Incredible Hulk. The super soldier serum, however, does get honorable mention.

This interview with producer Gale Anne Hurd provides some other interesting insights, namely, Punisher: War Zone will be coming out in December and will be a very hard R.

She also mentioned that you could see Cap's shield in Iron Man. Did I miss something? I never caught it.

In looking at the lessons, I was reminded of the scene from Office Space where Peter and his neighbor are discussing what they'd do if they had a million dollars, to which Peter responds

Leigh's Karate Kid II Birthday

Last Saturday we celebrated Leigh's birthday by drinking and singing karaoke at Kona Kitchen. Kona Kitchen is a small Hawaiian-themed restaurant/bar owned by Yuji Okumoto, best known for portraying Ralph Macchio's antagonist in "The Karate Kid II." Needless to say, people were skeptical of the venue. There was many a "What are we doing here?", "Why is the Karate Kid so important to Tom?", and "Wasn't this party supposed to be about Leigh?".

The lack of faith was...disturbing. But, after a touching rendition of Richard Marx's "Broken Wings," I do believe I turned the crowd around and we had a darn good time.

Alex, my friend, confidant, and comedic soul mate, mentioned during his last Christmas visit that I should start watching "How I Met Your Mother." Having a full tv schedule, I was hesitant to add on another show. Tonight, after a grueling day at work, I came home determined to spend the rest of the evening eating cold pizza and watching tv. As luck would have it, "How I Met Your Mother" was on and a glorious journey begun.

Even though I've only seen half an episode, I can say with certainty that the show has got the goods. One only needs to look at the quotes in Wikipedia associated with Barney (Neil Patrick Harris' womanizing, suit wearing character) to see why:

Basically, there are widgets for anything and everything you can imagine. Initially I overdid it, and then scaled it back to the bare essentials (see the Dilbert widget). I even downloaded a widget to take a picture of my desktop to post on the blog!

Today is one of the rare days that I get to work from home. Rather than spend my time in my place, I decided to do some work at Starbucks among the great people of this great city.

So, I'm sitting at a Starbucks near my apartment trying to focus and get some work done. The thought here is that I can get all my work done for a 9-10 hour day in roughly 4 hours if I apply myself. Well, I'm pounding away, and this totally obnoxious dude sits nearby. He's talking loudly on his cell phone, laughing out loud at the book he's reading--he even starts singing when a Tina Turner song comes on. After about five minutes of this, another guy nearby politely says, "Excuse me. This is a public place, and I don't think the others sitting here appreciate hearing you sing out loud."

The quick response was, "Well, f*ck you", which by itself is pretty funny. But then not two minutes later, the baristas on the other side of the store start singing as well. When this happened, the obnoxious guy gets this sanctimonious, self-satisfied look on his face, turns, and laughs right at the guy that politely asked him to quiet down.

I've never seen someone get so much satisfaction and apparent redemption at such as trivial matter. That is, of course, since the last time I saw Oliver play Grand Theft Auto.

The Decathlon 2

Warner Bros. is releasing a re-edit of Richard Donner's version of Superman II. Great Scott!

I've also heard that the super kiss ending will be removed. The super kiss has got to rank among the top "we didn't have a real ending to this story, and this was the best we could come up with" endings. It's right up there with having the entire story be a dream sequence or (sigh) flying back in time.

BSG 3.0

I'm finally caught up with Battlestar Galactica and am primed to watch the season premiere this Friday. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited. BSG is definitely one of the better shows on these days.

But the swings! I applaud the show for not being afraid to go dark. We're talking the brink of humanity here, people!

The season 2.5 finale was ridiculous in that regard. But like I've always said,

Turning 25

It's a weird thing turning 25. I'm more or less half way through my roaring 20s, and I'm not too sure how I feel about that.

I'm also just coming off a 25th birthday extravaganza. Being 25, my goal was to have a great time with friends and drink nothing but high end alcohol. I most assuredly succeeded in the latter, and I'm told the former was accomplished as well.

As I reflect on what I've accomplished thus far, I find myself comparing my current situation to that of my friends. Particularly, I'm reminded of the 25th birthday celebration of my friend Oliver.

At 25, Oliver was living at home with his parents with no job, prospects, or reason to get up in the morning save setting the TiVo to record Star Trek: The Next Generation. We celebrated by going out for drinks at the Rock Bottom, a restaurant emblematic of where he was at that point in his life.

Now, he's in a master's program, living in Europe and attempting to pass as a Dutchman. He's come a long way. I would never have thought a man with that many glaring defects of character could have pulled it together, but here we are.

My point is this: there's still time to get it together. And once I figure out what "it" and "together" are, I'll be sure to blog about it.

It's a good question. Truth is, if you sat and thought about the amount of time, money and effort you have to put into wushu to become mediocre by Western standards, you would never take it up.

Of course, that's precisely why people who do wushu are some of the most interesting people you'll meet. Believe it.

Joga Bonito

With the World Cup coming up, arguably the single greatest sporting event the United States couldn't care less about, there have been a lot of advertisement campaigns. My favorite has to be Nike's "Joga Bonito". For those in the know, "Joga Bonito" is Portuguese for "play it beautifully". The campaign was originally created for Brazil, but it soon evolved into a movement within the soccer community. Wikipedia notes that

Joga Bonito promotes fair and creative play as well as honesty and team spirit. It shows the true and beautiful side of football by having a motto of "play from the heart".

The spokesperson for the campaign is Eric Cantona, widely regarded as "talismanic" in the re-establishment of Manchester United as a football powerhouse in the 90s. With that said, he seems an appropriate choice to represent "Joga Bonito". Right?

By the by, he got an eight month suspension for that.

I'll admit it. I love the TV show "24". It's about as insane as scripted television gets. This last season was no exception.

As any devoted fan might, I read up on the show on Wikipedia, and I came across this:

The fifth season (2006) is set 18 months after the fourth season, seven and a half years after the events of Season 1 and is believed by some to take place around September 2009.

I never really thought of the show taking place in the future. It doesn't matter, though. Whether it's the past, present or future, Jack kicks ass wherever he goes.

Beards

Although the ubiquitous reality commentary shows on VH1, E! and the ilk have gotten exceedingly boring, I did find one comment to be particularly hilarious. The topic was the band ZZ Top, and one commentator stated,

"The only person in ZZ Top that didn't have a beard was named Frank Beard. That's fantastic."

That is fantastic. And random guy on TV, I salute you.

"Be able to kill your students."

I've recently been watching "Da Ali G Show". It's good. And memorable, too, as I've begun to use the catch phrase "booyakasha" in my day to day lexicon. Imagine my surprise, then, when I find this definition on the urban dictionary:

booyakasha is an african term that means, "all death to the whites".

Damn it.

I've officially been inspired. For the past year, I've layed dormant in the blogging community. Sleeping? Hardly. Waiting is more like it.

So here I go again on my own. Going down the only road I've ever known? Precisely.
